Rollz hotel & Café

The guesthouse sits at the eastern foot of Mount Tai in Shandong, at the very end of the scenic road. Perched higher than any other homestead in the area, it looks down over the entire city and faces both sunrise and sunset.
Design principle: the view rules everything. We maximized the sense of boundless solitude to create a place that feels as vast and raw as the mountain itself.
Design approach: relaxed roughness, open and airy spatial relationships, casually placed art, and theatrical light-ing.
Thirteen rooms, each distinct, each commanding a superb panorama. Beds and bathtubs are positioned so guests can watch the sun rise or sink while lying back.
A café, lobby and lounge, outdoor pool, inner courtyard, and viewing decks—every corner framed by a landscape. The café and several rooms overlook the whole city.
Local construction skills, available materials, and tight budgets kept the structure simple: more design delibera-tion, fewer building demands. The finish is deliberately rough; the atmosphere, hushed and solitary.
In short, we want this guesthouse and café to offer lay-ered vistas, thoughtful details, enduring aesthetics, and deep quiet.
