Hangzhou is celebrated for its breathtaking beauty, where nature and the built environment exist in perfect harmony. Drawing inspiration from this balance, the design team envisioned a landmark for Qianjiang New City that reflects the city’s rich cultural heritage, its deep connection with nature, and its forward-looking spirit of innovation.
The development features three residential towers, each approximately 190 meters tall, a 250-meter office tower, a retail podium with a shopping mall, and vibrant street-level retail spaces. Together, these elements create a dynamic urban complex that not only enhances the vitality of the CBD but also anchors it with a distinct identity.
The architectural design takes cues from Hangzhou’s natural and cultural legacy. The slender, vertical rhythm of the towers evokes the region’s bamboo groves, emphasizing elegance, openness, and preserving sightlines to the Qiantang River. On a larger scale, the building’s composition is inspired by the “Three Pavilions of West Lake” and the sails of the merchant boats that once traversed the waterways, linking the project to Hangzhou’s cultural landscape.
Initially conceived as two office towers, the project has been reimagined to include a vibrant mix of residential, office, retail, and exhibition spaces. This transformation aims to breathe new life into the CBD, shifting it from a purely commercial hub into a diverse, thriving neighborhood where people can live, work, and gather.
Sustainability is at the core of the design. Situated near the Qiantang River and just five kilometers from West Lake, the site is seamlessly connected to Hangzhou’s defining natural systems. The podium’s porous design creates ecological corridors, allowing nature to flow through the development and linking it to the riverfront and surrounding parkland. Roof gardens and landscaped courtyards extend greenery into the living spaces, while the mixed-use retail area features green walls and photovoltaic glazing, underscoring both the ecological vision and the client’s commitment to renewable energy.
Ultimately, this project aims to redefine the CBD experience by harmonizing culture, nature, and innovation. It creates not just a commercial district but a sustainable, vibrant urban community—an iconic development that resonates with the character and spirit of Hangzhou.
