Revelation

Revelation is an interactive installation that integrates light, sound, and spatial design to create a multisensory experience. Rooted in the cultural context and exhibition environment of Huangpi Park, the work aims to construct an open field where ethnicity and totem, wildness and restraint, past and future intertwine.

The inspiration comes from Yuval Noah Harari’s Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow, particularly his discussion of the evolution from Homo sapiens to Homo deus. Through this piece, we seek to trace and deconstruct how the advancement of productivity has shaped human civilization, to reflect critically on the transformations brought by technology, and to invite viewers to join a dialogue on where humanity is heading in the future.

Light serves as the primary expressive medium. The surface patterns are arranged in a circular formation, symbolizing the progression of humankind—from Homo sapiens at the bottom to Homo deus at the top. Visitors interact by stepping on pedals, triggering the activation of patterns controlled by a fog-film system. As the patterns illuminate, immersive light and shadow are projected onto the surrounding walls, creating a sacred and mysterious atmosphere that envelops the space. Here, the audience is not merely an observer but also a participant; together, we co-construct the narrative of the work.
