Within a Japanese wafu vocabulary, we weave in the industrial aesthetic the client favors.
A restrained grayscale palette pairs with honest natural timber, preserving the rugged presence of exposed ductwork. A custom banquette in the brand’s signature orange sparks the room, lending Japanese composure a touch of verve and play, and expressing an uncompromising character inside and out.
Restaurant design is more than layered visuals; it requires complete functional programming and rigorous preparation. Guided by circulation studies and operational needs, we raised the kitchen floor slab to house the grease trap. Equipment loads and electrical capacity were mapped in advance, with a precise gas-to-electric distribution calculated for safe, efficient service.
To address the cooling challenges of an open kitchen, we introduced the Fresh Air Ventilation System. It prevents the air-conditioning from being siphoned off by the exhaust hoods, preserving thermal performance while advancing energy efficiency and sustainability.
Beyond hardware, we tuned the “software”—service choreography and sightlines—to cultivate the warmth of dining. By subtly elevating the chefs’ line, chefs and guests at the bar meet naturally at eye level, inviting easy conversation. The experience becomes not only fine food, but the palpable warmth of hospitality between people.
At the busy threshold, handcrafted signage in shou sugi ban, a Japanese style charred cedar, carries the brand’s material warmth. It pairs with a mineral-paint wall finished like chiseled stone; subtle edge-lighting along the reveal heightens the artisanal refinement.
