The project serves an elderly homeowner and their three-generation family gatherings. The design theme “Weaving” echoes the parents’ former curtain-making profession, translating the concept of weaving into spatial language. From wood-floor joinery and stone divisions to curtain drapery, the rhythm of interlacing expresses connection and continuity, symbolizing family bonds while allowing daily layers to unfold naturally through light and shadow.
In execution, the social area adopts an open plan linking dining and reading areas. Low cabinets replace tall ones to maintain transparency and match the elders’ ergonomic needs. The TV wall alternates blanc travertine and moonlight beige stones, whose curve extends to the entryway, creating gentle flow. The core tatami room uses solid hinoki wood; its diamond-woven ceiling incorporates concealed air vents within the upper grille, successfully merging traditional craftsmanship with modern function—materials, light, and air delicately woven into the family’s everyday life.
