THE POIRET DREAM is built on a reimagined worldline.
In this version of reality, a luxury brand that once disappeared did not come to an end, but continued to develop and exist into the present.
The exhibition begins with a simple proposition: if Paul Poiret’s brand had been able to sustain itself commercially, what form might it take today? Based on this assumption, the project constructs a reality defined by outcome rather than process. What visitors enter is not a historical narrative, but a present that has already taken shape.
Garments, spaces, colors, and environments appear as fragments of this imagined world. They are not tied to specific dates, nor arranged as a linear story. Instead, they are placed side by side, allowing the brand to be experienced as a whole rather than explained through chronology.
Elements associated with the idea of mirror, flower, moon, and water appear only in moments. Flowers, reflective surfaces, lunar references, and shades of blue emerge briefly in certain spaces, then disappear. These elements are not symbols to be decoded, but fleeting images—like glimpses within a dream—that shape how the exhibition is felt rather than understood.
The exhibition space functions more as a constructed environment than a display. As visitors move through it, their presence, attention, and projection activate the world being shown. In this act of viewing, the imagined brand temporarily becomes real.
THE POIRET DREAM does not aim to resolve history or offer conclusions.
It simply presents a world that never happened, as if it had already arrived.
