The design journey begins by transcending the replication of regional style, shifting towards a contemporary reinterpretation of Shanghai’s luxury essence. The project evolves from "emulating benchmarks" to "redefining self," extracting the core spirit of Shanghai-style culture—refined textures, ceremonial sequences, and inclusive character—and blending them with avant-garde design principles. The result is a harmonious balance of traditional charm and modern luxury, tailored to the unique needs of the local clientele.
A key innovation lies in avoiding the overuse of traditional Shanghai-style symbols, instead focusing on the essence of the style to achieve a refined and contemporary interpretation. For instance, traditional carvings are reimagined as minimalist walnut wood grilles, and spatial sequences are transformed into modern, ceremonial arrangements. This approach differentiates the project from generic market offerings and offers a replicable model for adapting Shanghai-style to diverse regions.
In formal design, the project introduces "dynamic arcs" and "light-grid interplay" to redefine spatial boundaries. Flowing arc elements soften conventional sharp edges, while curved stone borders enhance the fluidity of spatial movement. The innovative light-grid system integrates slatted panels with lighting, casting shifting patterns that evolve throughout the day. This dynamic interaction between form and light transcends static decoration, providing a transformative experience for residents.
Sustainability is also deeply embedded in the design process, from passive energy-saving strategies, such as optimized spatial orientation and natural ventilation, to active environmental protection measures, including zero-formaldehyde materials. Circular utilization is prioritized, with recycled construction waste and modular furniture design, ensuring long-term sustainability. This full-lifecycle approach sets a new standard for green luxury living in the high-end residence market.
