The Yulin TV Tower is located on a hill in the new urban area of Yulin, Shaanxi Province, adjacent to the Aquatic Sports Center on the south side. It breaks through the traditional tall tower design and integrates multiple functions such as broadcasting and television, sightseeing, exhibition, catering, and specialty product exhibition and sales.
The plan adopts a triangular plane in combination with the base form, presenting a simple yet powerful appearance. The top incorporates elements from the ancient upturned eaves and upturned corners of Yulin's old city, rising at the ends and seamlessly blending with the transmitting antennas, creating a unique urban skyline. The bottom of the building features a spherical overhead design, ensuring even stress distribution and facilitating construction. The roof adopts a suspended chain surface structure, relying on the core tube to form a suspension system. Leveraging the tensile properties of steel, it achieves a large-span space with no or fewer columns, ensuring the openness, complexity, and flexibility of the space, and adapting to future business format adjustments.
The project aims to create a multi-layered landscape system: a landscape axis is established along the entrance plaza, connecting cultural theme landscapes, the central courtyard, and the radio and television theme plaza; a lake view corridor is planned on the south side, with pavement inspired by the curves of the Wave Valley, creating a dynamic earth art aesthetic. At the same time, leveraging Yulin's abundant solar energy resources, cadmium telluride power-generating glass is installed in high-radiation areas through annual radiation simulation of building facades, balancing aesthetic appearance with efficient utilization of green energy to establish a low-carbon demonstration benchmark. The elevated space at the bottom of the building and the rooftop garden also create a vibrant and shared public leisure hub for citizens and tourists.
