About The Entry
The Songhe Cultural Memorial Park covers an area of 376.7 acres and includes a service center, ceremony center, cultural center, administrative offices, and an eco-burial area. Its goal is to create a humanistic landscape complex that integrates commemoration, culture, ecology, and public education.
The park's design philosophy is rooted in the imagery of the I Ching, 'a crane cries in the shade,' and through a contemporary deconstruction of Song dynasty aesthetics, it follows principles of restraint, emptiness, and simplicity, using modern language to reshape a millennium of elegance. The planning emphasizes experiential scenes and cultural storytelling, featuring ritual and ceremony areas as well as multiple scenes inspired by Song paintings, such as 'watching cranes' and 'listening to pines.' In addition, more than ten themed courtyard gardens, combined with local ecological landscapes, create a scenic environment suitable for both visiting and living in, like a landscape painting brought to life.
The architecture draws inspiration from traditional courtyards, with lines flowing like flying cranes, and uses elegant materials such as local gray stone, natural wood, and bronze. The spatial layout cleverly employs techniques like framed views and borrowed scenery, allowing visitors to feel as if they have 'stepped into a painting.' Through the dialogue between nature, architecture, and culture, visitors experience a silent journey of remembrance across time. Once completed, the project aims to become a cultural landmark reflecting the spirit of the era and a new industry model.
