Strategically located along Russian Boulevard, one of Phnom Penh’s most prominent urban arteries, FTB Tower occupies a highly visible site at the heart of the city. Situated near key destinations including the Central Market, the main Railway Station, and other major commercial developments, the tower forms a significant addition to Phnom Penh’s evolving urban fabric. Designed to house the new office and bank headquarters of the Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia, FTB Tower sets out to establish a new benchmark for contemporary Grade-A workplace architecture while contributing a distinctive presence to the city skyline.
The architectural concept draws inspiration from the emblem of the Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia, which features the iconic profile of the Bayon Temple statues in Siem Reap. Renowned as symbols of wisdom, serenity, and cultural identity, these monumental faces informed a design approach that bridges heritage and modernity through abstraction rather than literal representation.
The tower is defined by two interlocking surfaces that create a refined and subtly leaning composition. A smooth, fully glazed inner surface expresses calm and clarity, while an outer façade wraps around the volume from east to west, articulated through alternating bands of vision glass, solid cladding, and frosted panels. This horizontal rhythm introduces texture and depth, echoing the layered motifs found in the bank’s branding. A four-storey podium, clad in dark opaque materials, grounds the building with a strong visual base, reinforcing the impression of permanence and stability.
Internally, FTB Tower is planned for efficiency, flexibility, and long-term adaptability. Optimised floorplates, generous planning depths, and increased clear floor heights support high-quality, light-filled work environments. The building accommodates a wide range of tenancy configurations, ensuring it remains responsive to future commercial needs.
