Guided by the principles of "Respect, Continuity, and Innovation", the Shihua Ecological Baijiu Estate is a conservation-led regeneration of a state-owned Third Front industrial heritage site. Without large-scale demolition and reconstruction, this project preserves historical textures such as the red-brick facade, lofty spaces, and truss structures in their entirety while introducing modern functions and narrative-driven spaces, sparking a dialogue between the past and the present.
Centered on the concept of "symbiosis between old and new", this project employs interventions such as inserted mezzanines, flexible partitions, and contemporary installations to transform the former production facility into a cultural and tourist destination. On-site landscape features—century-old trees, historic perimeter walls, and the natural mountain backdrop—are carefully retained through sustainable practices and modern techniques, cultivating an atmosphere where architecture, nature, and cultural heritage intertwine.
With a framework of "living heritage & immersive experience & industrial extension", this project integrates cultural rituals such as brewing, aging, and tasting into key spatial nodes. By developing composite spaces—including the No. 304 Traditional Brewing Workshop, the "BaWang Liquor" Hongxin Qu Base, the Baijiu Museum, the No. 207 Sealed Storage and Customization Center, the "Jiangshangchun" Tea Plantation, and thematic hotels—it converts an industrial heritage site into a visitable, experienetial, and consumable cultural tourist site, fostering deep resonance among people, architecture, nature, and baijiu culture.
This project adheres to a circular and low-carbon material strategy. Recycled bricks, steel, and other original building materials are redesigned and repurposed to preserve the site's memory while minimizing construction waste. New additions prioritize eco-friendly and degradable materials, reducing environmental impact. All these reflect the philosophy of sustainable construction.
