This residential project is conceived around the idea of human–cat cohabitation, rethinking domestic space through the intertwined rhythms of people and their feline companions. Starting from everyday behaviors—how humans move, pause, and inhabit, and how cats wander, perch, observe, and rest—the design redefines scale, circulation, and sensory relationships within the home. Cats are acknowledged as equal spatial residents rather than passive pets. Their paw-led journeys, favored sunlit corners, and quiet lookout points become part of the living scenery, subtly shaping how the home is experienced. Movement is no longer purely functional; it becomes a shared choreography of footsteps and soft paws.
Through the use of gentle curves, nuanced material transitions, and carefully orchestrated lighting, the design traces invisible paths where whiskered curiosity meets human routines. Light follows these routes, guiding both species through moments of interaction and retreat. The result is a warm, continuous environment where human life and feline instinct naturally intersect—forming a calm, fluid habitat that supports coexistence, comfort, and mutual awareness. More than a residence, the home becomes a living ecosystem—one that honors curiosity, companionship, and the quiet poetry of everyday life shared between humans and cats.
The entryway is anchored by a striking oversized cat paw–shaped mirror, serving as a playful yet symbolic welcome. It initiates a gentle dialogue with the cat’s presence the moment one returns home, turning arrival into a shared ritual. Curved laundry and shoe cabinets soften the linearity of the corridor, while the mudroom area is finished with hexagonal terrazzo tiles. Their flowing layout, paired with contrasting shades of gray and white, subtly guides both footsteps and paw prints from the outside world inward.
The living room responds to a cat’s instinctive desire to climb, perch, and observe from above. Integrated platforms and a suspended skywalk invite vertical exploration, allowing cats to move freely through the space as quiet companions. Wood and glass are used as primary interfaces, enabling light to filter, reflect, and glide across surfaces, lending the elevation a sense of lightness and transparency.
