Jinan boasts stunning mountain and lake scenery paired with a millennium-old cultural heritage, fostering an urban temperament that blends openness and gentleness. At the start of the project, the team conducted an in-depth analysis, focusing on regional traits, overall planning, product style, customer needs, and competitor research. The core consideration was the spiritual essence of human habitation, with humanistic art as the central theme in the design.
Drawing inspiration from the Shandong Museum, the design integrates the cultural depth and artistic beauty of the museum’s relics with the mission of preserving historical marks in landscape design. Breaking the boundaries between tradition and modernity, the team transformed cultural genes from the museum, blending them with Eastern garden aesthetics. This approach breathes new life into the region’s cultural heritage, creating the "Qilu Museum Aesthetic Living Pavilion" that combines cultural preservation with modern aesthetics.
During implementation, two core challenges were addressed. To achieve the "sense of floating" for the entrance water feature, structural simulations optimized the support points, using hidden steel structures and bottom lighting. This ensured structural safety while creating a light and transparent visual effect. For applying intangible cultural heritage (ICH) colored glaze in a modern context, traditional glazes were transformed into modular units using digital molds and standardized construction, overcoming the scale limitations of handcrafted products and seamlessly integrating them with the feature wall in the reception hall.
The landscape design emphasizes green sustainability. The water feature system uses recycled water and misting technology for conservation and energy reduction. Native tree species form a multi-layered plant community, with visual concealment technology and eco-friendly materials reducing consumption. Elevated floors create shared ecological spaces, while all-age activity areas feature barrier-free design and environmentally friendly materials, harmonizing high-end living with natural ecology.
By blending cultural heritage with innovation and sustainable concepts, the project sets a benchmark for culture-driven residential design and ecology-integrated living, highlighting the social value of contemporary landscape design.
