WUXI C&D NIMBUS MANSION

Inspired by the poetic theme of “A River Reflects Song Grace, A Boat Feast Adorns Jiangnan,” this project reinterprets the gardening philosophy of Jichang Garden— “crafting mountains and forests within inches, channeling water to create delight.” It resonates with the refined cultural gatherings of the Song Dynasty, creating an urban oasis with Song-style forest, spring, feast, and leisure, which is a rare scenario in the metropolis.
The spatial concept, “One Axis Links Three Realms, One Boat Feasts Across Millennia,” allows residents to rediscover the elegance and serenity of Song-era living in the heart of the city.
Scene 1:
Ancient charm meets modern innovation. A sunken courtyard enriches spatial layers, while a swimming pool nestles among woods and streams. With the pool, cascading waterfalls, and red foliage, an unbounded Jiangnan painting comes to life—a place to dwell and wander.
Scene 2:
Drawing from the water artistry of Jichang Garden’s “Jinhui Pond,” the design channels the canal into the courtyard, stacks stones to form banks, and builds bridges leading into serene corners. This recreates an immersive waterscape where “the boat glides on emerald waves, and people wander as in a painting.” An oversized corridor lounge offers multiple viewing and resting spaces, turning the “boat journey” from a theme into a daily poetic experience.
Scene 3:
Song-style refined gatherings are vividly realized. Spaces integrate music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, featuring waterside tea seats, a corridor platform, and a forest tavern—making “Feasting in Jiangnan” a tangible cultural encounter.
