Xinyuan Lumin Trace, Xi’an

Located in Xi’an Xixian New Area, the project integrates a 2.2-hectare municipal greenbelt with the community’s first phase. Addressing fragmented urban spaces, weak neighborhood interaction, and disconnection between people and nature, the design transforms the park into an irreplaceable “community value marker,” fostering warmth and connection amid concrete structures.
Guided by principles of breaking boundaries, functional layering, and natural infiltration, the greenbelt becomes the community’s “second living room” and “super entrance.” Circulation is fully integrated to eliminate internal-external divides. Four “micro-vacation life theaters”—Moonlight Theater, Lumin Trace Café, Homecoming Hall, and Corner Street—activate public spaces, while two vertical courtyards introduce greenery into the community core, creating a natural, artistic journey home.
The “micro-vacation” aesthetic blends modern minimalism with poetic nature. Emotional progression guides residents from the city’s “release,” through the park’s “anticipation,” into the home lobby’s “warmth,” and finally to the water courtyard’s “tranquility.” A palette of beige-gray, warm white, and natural wood fosters serenity, accentuated by greenery, water, and soft lighting. Materials—stone, wood, water, and light—interact across layered spaces, reinforcing the narrative of a connected, humane urban environment.
