The Independent rises 688 feet and currently holds the title of the tallest tower in Austin, Texas. The 363-unit, 1,002,000 square foot residential high rise owes its character to a restricted site and varied program. Residential tiers push and pull to cantilever four distinct blocks. This dynamic form is achieved by sliding and mirroring floor plates about a central core. The Independent anticipates LEED Gold certification and offers two entire floors of the most competitive condo amenities including an expansive pool deck, a dog lounge, fitness facilities and a cantilevered board room, theater and lounge. A 30-foot cantilever suspends the 34th-floor amenity deck over the city with soaring views. The refined material palette and sleek detailing throughout steps away from a standard condo project and into an upscale museum-influenced design. The Independent is designed to capture imagination and activate Austin’s skyline.
