Inspired by the gardens of brazilian landscape artist Burle Marx and its organic shapes, the Botanique table was designed as an ode to Brazil’s exuberant nature, hence its name. The studio creative process is greatly influenced by biophilic design, a practice that seeks to connect our innate need to affiliate with nature in the modern built environment. According to the biophilia hypothesis — first put forth by American biologist Edward O. Wilson in 1984 — this connection is very beneficial for human health and has been found to support physical health, cognitive function and psychological well-being.

As for the biophilic aspects, besides the table organic features, the table top is made of Brazilian natural stones, which stands out for its uniqueness and beauty. The exquisity of Brazilian natural stones found in Botanique tables has already been presented at an important Italian design event as part of an installation — a garden full of Botanique tables that astonished Milan bystanders — reinforcing the table identity and its concept.

The use of Brazilian natural quartzites has been a cornerstone of the studio, based on the perception that imported materials were very much the preferential option for the Brazilian designers when the studio first started business. It emerges as a way to express national identity, the vibrant color palette present in the quartzites chosen to compose the studio's curatorship alludes to the material and immaterial Brazilian rich diversity.

Due to its high durability and resistance, quartzites require little maintenance and can be considered sustainable if compared to the so-called “fast furniture”— a term for cheap, low-quality, mass-produced furniture designed to be disposed.
