Break the Cocoon

This is a house renovation project. The designer ingeniously renovates the thirty-year-old house and creates an elegant, simple and classical residence. Enlarge the windows, which not only changes the appearance of house, but also introduces a lot of natural light, improves the ventilation system and changes the interior atmosphere as well. In addition, British classical factors and aesthetics of proportion are applied, making the home not only a residence but also a stage where stories of life are happened.



Open layout is adopted in the public area. The large are of windows connects the interior and the exterior, extends the view and ensure the smooth circulation of the interior space. A half-height partition made of natural stone and solid wood with 180-degree rotatable TV cabinet is set up between the living room and the dining room. The natural texture and dignified tone bring visual comfort and elegance of the space, allowing residents to relax freely in the space. The living room is in dignified and calming tone, providing a space for the family to have tea, talk, and spend warm and happy family time. In order to ensure each member of the large family to have their meal freely, the designer eliminates the excessive decorations to keep the purity of the space. The dark sliding door delineates the boundary between the dining area and the kitchen. The combination of lively red and white and the design of kitchen island behind the door create a fashionable urban kitchen.



The private spaces are more thematic. The cozy spaces with various images are created with different colors. The bed room in blue interprets the gentle manner of modern metropolis. On the other side, the elegant lilac in elderly’s bedroom builds up a classic charm of causality.



The designer keeps close communication with the proprietors to understand their needs and expectations during the design process. The quality of the proprietors’ life is improved with the ingenious design and the renovated house will accompany the family with the next thirty years.
