HAIGAN XIAOYOUYU SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

Haigan Xiaoyouyu Seafood Restaurant is located in Haixia Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, Huli District, Xiamen, and covers an area of 1,200m². It has been transformed from an old factory, by mainly using simple materials such as cement board, wood veneer and steel plate, corresponding to the brand philosophy of the restaurant and creating a poetic space of modern simplicity. The interior design, greatly subverting the style of traditional Chinese food stalls, focuses on the embodiment of local humanities and different spatial experience by using a large number of blocks to increase the sense of spatial hierarchy, while the irregular ceiling undulations extend from indoor to outdoor with the design of winding lines. It's a rich interpretation of a space full of contextual narratives, giving people a new view to each step they take.



The flexible cut-out spatial blocks at the entrance dilute the heaviness of the building, just like a modern art installation that's full of tension, leading the space to evolve from outside to inside step by step with the full strength of the lines.The designers have built a small duplex in the atrium, and incorporated an overhead door frame, making it a quintessential part of the space. The small squid net sculpture, which is the crucial element of the space, is employed to condense the spatial concept with eye-catching colors and futuristic materials.



The irregular ceiling rises and falls, and the landscaping and garden-style windows are in picturesque disorder through variations of the design. The gentle wood tone matches the spotless white wall, keeping the place away from the noisy elements of traditional food stalls, and creating a completely fun and interesting dining space through the use of light and elegant tones. The design of the restaurant's winding traffic lines tantalizes people's curiosity as they switch between stratified spaces and layers. The permeation from one space to another and the creation of small landscapes here and there are interlocking and giving viewers different sights as they walk around, which all shows the designer's crafty design, and greatly enhances the fun and depth of "food".
