This work is a private residence for vacation and entertainment of families and friends located in the countryside, which is a half an hour’s drive away from downtown Jinhua. In the south rises a mountain where there brims over with alluring and graceful spectacles. In the west lies a pool where the glamour of tranquility deeply overwhelms viewers who may immerse in secluded vibes here. It can be assured that even hermits and ancient knights-errant will settle here for a peace of mind. In order to echo the outdoor scenery and complement the vibes, the interior design adopts the new Chinese style which highlights the unique mood of Chinese antique rooms through elaborate textures, details and veins without losing simplicity and practicality.

We were inevitably confronted with difficulties at the very beginning in the purpose of optimizing and remodeling workshops here, which were defective in their plain house layout and poor architectural structures. Therefore, designers put forward a program that required reinforcing with steel structures and replacing worn-out structural components to preserve the adobe walls and sloping roofs of old buildings as much as possible. On the basis of security, we reconstructed the house layout, redistributed the interior space and added brand new functional areas according to the existing architectural structures. Then, the elements of the Chinese style such as wooden veins, cloud-like carpets, screens, hanging scrolls and rocks of mountains remained as before. The abundant soft decorations of the modern style were furnished elsewhere to leave space for avoiding a sense of crowding visually. Finally, the floor-to-ceiling windows can be readily seen in the residence to increase lighting and decrease isolation indoors and outdoors, which eventually blending the scenery with decorations harmoniously.
