This work lies in the golf course of Longshan Lake, Huzhou City, China. It’s mainly used to provide accommodations, travelling spots and wedding venues for clients, whether in the course or in the neighborhood. Our design team noticed during the fieldwork that there is the vast green land around the course and an artificial lake nearby. Hence, the theme of design “close to nature” was born after a short discussion.
First of all, the lobby as the face of the hotel employs natural elements involving petals, solid wood and stone veins, to represent the concept that the hotel integrates into nature. Secondly, the space is no longer visually empty since it’s ingeniously filled under a contrast between “dispersion” and “integration”. The upper dispersed petals correspond to the seamless and integrated ground while the left unordered stone steps correspond to the integrated and lofty stone wall. Next, the dining hall still accords with the concept of nature. Those higher and lower floor-to-ceiling windows are applied for adding gradations of light and shade to the regular and square dining hall. In the end, the bedrooms appear more serene and modest than the grand and high-key lobby. The colors of bedrooms are at lower saturation and milder hue. The visual transition of the bedrooms relies more on the lighting and shadows. Besides, the elements of plants, birds and beasts merge into the bedroom, not only deepening natural vibes but also endowing a sense of liveliness. Therefore, users can quickly adapt to the private bedroom and have a sound night’s sleep.
