Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the world has become even more aware of the importance of “air” than before.
Daikin, being a specialist of “air” as an air conditioning manufacturer, is working to develop new ways of dealing with air in and after the time of
COVID-19.
The design of our new office expresses Daikin's determination to contribute to the betterment of society through the strengthening of our
air-related efforts.
Daikin’s policy towards the post-COVID-19 era is crystalized in the design that features a curtain crossing the space dynamically, visualizing the
invisible movement of air.
A large curtain is featured as the symbol of the office. It also
embodies "air," the major subject matter Daikin is working on.
In order to visualize air that is invisible, the weight of the curtain cloth
is calculated meticulously so that the cloth sways gently when a
person walks past it.
Inspired by the nature of air to change its form (gaseous, liquid, and
solid states), the curtain was carefully dyed by craftsmen so that it has
a gradation-like look consisting of many shades of blue, not just one
plain blue.
