The project is a show flat of Maison De Renouveau, a residential development which is about 3 kilometers away from the West Lake in Hangzhou. It's a brand new large single-floor apartment, which is distinctive from traditional ones and villas. The designers used spatial language to shape the scale and tone, and created a distinctive living environment to achieve equality among the dwellers, making them live more comfortable.

Inspired by the oriental spirit that advocates simplicity, the space is dominated by pure white tone and dotted by ink hues, recalling the scene of West Lake in the snow.

The client named the show flat as “Wu Xiang” in Chinese, which means that what matters most is the essence of things instead of the meaningless appearance. This also reflects what the whole design pursues.

Starting from the essence, the designers conveyed their thoughts about life by spatial adjustments. The space was reorganized based on the concept “spatial equality”, to let every family member have their own space and live comfortably. The domain-centered theory is perfectly expressed in the family's social space with living room and dining room at its core. The semi-open study, living room, dining room and western kitchen lie on the same axis. Each family member not only has an exclusive space catering to personal habits and privacy, but also maintains effective communication and company of the family. The design seeks balance between life and art, and pursues "spatial equality" beyond equal functions or scale.
