Background
Until the mid-19th century, the barbershop wasn’t just a place for gentlemen to procure a haircut or a shave. It was where fraternities were formed. The Pompadour was envisioned to capture the unique experiences classic barbershops offered.
The idea / Design
BOX – Into the barber’s chair
We used a motif inspired by iconic checkered barbershop floors. Upon opening the leather box, users should feel like they’re taking a seat in a leather barber’s chair.
LITERATURE – Today’s news
A product sheet designed as an old-style newspaper contains product information, inspirations and fragrance profile. A serif font makes it feel authentic to an actual newspaper.
BOTTLE – Welcome to the barbershop
The glass cylinder bottle is inspired by the classic barber pole with a contemporary twist. Like in real life, the red, white and blue helix rotates as the bottle is unscrewed open. A sans serif font dials up the brand’s premium feel.
The Pompadour is the gentleman’s pocket companion. It reminds him of a time when men were afforded a luxurious den of sorts. A private circle where politics, sport and life could be discussed freely while the smells of hair tonic, newsprint and fine leather filled the air.
