Taking Amsterdam, the city of port, as inspiration, the designer wishes to bring in a lively architectural impression full of colors. The building is located near the seaside, which is rather wide and spacious enough to show the complete exterior appearance. Thus, by proposing an avant-garde concept, the designer aims to challenge and shape up the skyline of residential architecture in Taiwan. The residence, designed for families of all ages, is hoped to connect closely with daily living and everyday aesthetic, through its appearance, landscape, interior design and amenities.
The culture of color usage on buildings in Taiwan is rather restrained. While most of the metropolitan architectures are in earth tones or greyish shades, the designer daringly chooses white as the main color of the building. Vibrant use of colors, materials, and irregular layout makes a striking difference on the urban landscape. The design applies Japanese traditional colors of kimono on the frames of balconies; ice green, barely white, patrinia flower and arrow feather (yagasuri), symbolizing purity, newborn, adolescence, and marriage, these life processes in a family, integrate blessings of life into the design concept.
Applying recessed windows and protruded balconies on the building facade helps achieve the goal of less electricity use with more sun shading. The white color also reduces the oppressive visual impact of high-rise buildings. In addition, with efficiently self-cleaning tiles, the building can always look as new, keeping it from pollution of the outdoor dust and acid rain.
Balconies are arranged with logical order to ensure every resident enjoys the same size and same right to the seaside view. The rectangular geometric shape on the rooftop forms a different movement of the skyline. During the night, lights on abundant colors of the balconies form an interesting architectural profile in the city. The whole design wishes to bring a tranquil atmosphere for the residents, adding a vigorous energy to the city. Public amenities are designed based on practicality and working as an extension of homelife, which encourages social, exercise, gaming to improve relationships between residents.
