ECOMARAN – SOLAR PASSENGER CATAMARAN

The boat presents designers' vision of eco-friendly water transport for modern urban environments. In cities like Bangkok, Sydney or Dubai water craft are important part of passenger transport and sightseeing attractions.

The new boat is designed around use of low emission and low noise electrical propulsion system. Full roof is maximized in size, and is used to locate 135m2 of solar panels, capable to provide 30kW of power on tropical sun. Any shading of solar panels is unfavorable, thus pilothouse is designed in level with main saloon.

The boat is intended for transport of 100-120 passengers on rivers or protected waters, with cruising speed of 10kts, with low wave-making and comfortable motions of catamaran platform. Boarding of passengers is through side doors, and also optional bow ramp – for bow loading or beach loading. The boat features main saloon with seats, and also optional business class saloon at the aft deck; there are 2 or 3 bathrooms. Special thinking was given to comfort of passengers with restrictions in mobility.

Style of boat is minimalistic with all practical features, with priority is given to lightness, roomy public spaces, natural airflow, easy maintenance at affordable cost. However, safety features are not compromised. The catamaran is highly maneuverable in tight areas due to wide separation of propulsion units.

The design of hull shape and functional features is based on extensive design experience of AMD team in field of passenger catamarans. Hull structure is seen in composite materials which allow lighter and stronger hull.
