Xiangu village 閑谷 設計

Xiangu is a natural ecological village far away from the city.



In this unique environment, we use local materials that integrate local environmental characteristics into the design.



Considering the humid environment in Taiwan and the needs of homeowners, children and pets, we use durable, scratch-resistant, and waterproof materials instead of traditional stone materials. We also avoid creating sharp angles to create a safe and secure environment.



First floor: we changed the layout of the old house, and added bathrooms, porches and an open kitchen. We also considered using an universal design to increase the sense of security, comfort and openness in the space we have.



Second floor: We used starry sky lights on the ceiling of the nursary room to connect with the external environment and create a smooth transition because it may be difficult to see a clear sky in Taiwan. Besides that, we also used high wooden structures to increase storage and replaced the use of traditional tables and chairs.



In the master bedroom, we added a couch, a dressing room and an independent bathroom to meet the needs of the owner.



The third floor: we created flexible space to provide a potential visitor's accommodation that can also meet the children's recreational needs. The wooden floor is heightened and easy to be quickly cleaned up after children's activites.
