Royal Driving School, a long-established driving license school with the top number of graduates annually in Hiroshima Prefecture. This project is a renovation plan for a school building that exists for 35 years.Area of the renovation is the 1st floor entrance, lobby, the 2nd floor classroom, and the corridor , stairs and restrooms ... and a large-scale refurbishment of almost the entire area including the exterior partially.Along with clients seeking a "Reborn, totally new driving school," we engaged in planning from a review of the school's ideals and service methods.

The concept is [ DRIVING RESORT ].

We aimed for an entertainment & Activity space that enjoys non-routine life. What kind of driving license school will you come to?

Together with the client, we went back to the starting point and proceeded with the plan. We usually stay a few extravagant days while a license, such as scuba diving in southern countries and skiing in powder snow.Isn't it possible to make such excitement even at a driving school? This non-routine experiences of driving as Entertainment and Activity, and spending the time itself as luxury. This wish is at the root of this project.

A redesign of the school where you can spend time more pleasantly and more comfortably. What this means is to dispel the image of the current driving school and to take on the role of disseminating a space that will develop into the future and potential of the future driving school to users and the public.

We used motifs related to driving such as road signs, pedestrian crossings, maps, etc. for design, used scraps of cars for art displays, etc., and added a little sense of fun while cherishing the texture of wood, concrete, iron and other Industrial materials. We aimed at highly sensitive space design.
