Located just 5 km from downtown and right next to the thousand-year Zhenru Temple, the project is prominently sited and conveniently connected to Metro Line 11 and 14 with a GFA of 420,000 m2, including 130,000 m2 for commercial uses. The design of the project represents a dialogue between local culture and future commercial trends. In view of the future needs of the younger generation of customers, it uses “Zhenru Temple and elapsed time” as the storyline to lead the space-making. With light and delicate texture, clear-cut details and diverse geometric relationship, the design vocabularies help foster a refined and engaging atmosphere of a high-end place. Spaces in the west of the mall is designed with the concept of the Temple’s Dawn Light to resonate with the future and highlight the trends, aiming to offer rich and diversified activity spaces for the new generations. The spatial nodes interact closely with the layout of trade mix, not only creating high-quality spaces for shopping, social interaction and leisure, but also meeting the personalized and diversified needs of future target customers, including Internet influencers, fashion designers, e-sports players, office and business people. The spatial creation in the east of the shopping mall reflects the concept of the Temple’s Night Shadow. Starting with a reflection on the history, as symbolized by the fallen leaves of ancient ginkgo trees, the design leads customers into a journey in reminiscence of fisherman’s singing at dusk. The open food court below grade connects the retail services in the east and west, reviving memories about the former Tongchuan Market, while the sunken plaza attracts more people from surface to this area. Through flexible and novel design of the extended shopping area in the public space, a vivid display interface is shaped to recreate the bustling and warm scenes of the former aquatic products market.
