The Cottages at Lake Hayes

The Cottages are on the shores of Lake Hayes, one of New Zealand’s most iconic settings, only 10 minutes from Queenstown. Launched in 2020, the Cottages at Lake Hayes provide a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
These beautifully appointed 2-bedroom cottages present a luxury stay right in a private estate right on the shores of Lake Hayes, Queenstown.
The Cottages are furnished to the highest standard with Sealy beds, furniture from US RH and fabrics from Europe, supplemented by fine local touches.
Each of the 5 cottages sleep up to 4 adults with 2 en-suite bedrooms with private terraces, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining, bar, and lounge with wood-burner.
Floor to ceiling windows allow for natural light to flood in. An additional 2 children can be accommodated on the window seat – the size of which was designed to be equivalent to two single beds. There is also a large sofa and cosy wood-burner stove. The circular dining table can seat up to 6, with a bar area opposite. The bespoke kitchen features fully-fitted cabinetry with a slate worktop.
The Cottages are a rustic yet refined retreat, reflecting the historic farm setting. Each cottage has its own unique scheme inspired by the contemporary cabin architecture and the rural setting. The colours and textures are inspired by the surrounding countryside, flora and fauna. The Cottage interiors are light and bright, with the tranquil wetlands, lake and mountains taking center stage through expansive picture windows that capture the views and morning sun.

Designed and built by local award-winning Assembly Architects and Form Construction, and in close collaboration with the owners, The cottages present very contemporary accommodations in a rural setting.

The owners wish to support local artists so each cottage features a curated art collection, commissioned exclusively for The Cottages from New Zealand artists. These art pieces are for guests to enjoy and purchase if they wish. These will then be replenished by new pieces, keeping the cottages creatively evolving. THE ART PROJECT completes the ultimate luxury retreat.
