The project is a private clubhouse located in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. In Xishuangbanna, a charming natural paradise, there are two three-storey enclosed courtyard villas with a total floor area of 2,600 square meters. With the unique natural beauty of Xishuangbanna as the theme, the project skillfully creates the villas rich in natural elements, by following nature and using modern design techniques. The buildings are transparent and open, with the strong Southeast Asian style, well blending with the vibrant natural environment. The interior continues the sense endowed by the architecture and takes it as the carrier, with a view to extending, restructuring and interpreting its implied meaning. This project subtly utilizes metal materials and wood veneer to outline the appearance of the primitive forest in Banna, creating a distinctive resting space, inheriting the natural charm and reflecting the high-end and exquisite taste and style. The interior space is simple yet elegant. The elaborate combination of soft upholstery and decorations as well as the textured materials and fabrics generate a unique style and artistic atmosphere. “Orientalism” can be caught everywhere, from the architectural texture, cultural root, pure and plain materials, virtual yet real, metaphorical light and shadows, the integration of nature into the space, varied and staggered landscapes, to the freedom of people living in the space. The artistic hollow-out bronze sculptures stand in the front hall like rocks. The local bamboo weaving handicraft is restructured and reproduced by modern artistic techniques. The space reveals a rough, free ambience. Sunshine passes through gaps, and forms natural and mottled light and shadows, appearing soft and dynamic.
