Best of Luck in the Year of TIGER

Inspired by the impressive performance of the spinning earth in the opening ceremony of the 2020 Summer Olympics (Tokyo), the design team wanted to present innovative sound and light technology on the stage of the Taiwan Lantern Festival.

Taiwan's original design team provided the creativity and content, and international companies provided the drones and technology. The two parties worked together to present the historical and cultural context of Taiwan with 1,500 drones at a height of 204 meters and a horizontal height of 174 meters.

The 2022 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Kaohsiung is different from the traditional lantern festival. Many art contents combine with the characteristics of the city of Kaohsiung, so that the works fit perfectly with the local humanities and scenery, and the drone show is no exception.

As the flying main light of the 2022 Taiwan Lantern Festival, the drone show took the Love River Bay as a large stage and used delicate animation to create a beautiful picture in the air. The mother of Kaohsiung, the Ai River, also responds with a reflection on the water in the night of bright lights.

More than just a stunning visual experience, the design team wanted to convey a deeper cultural meaning. Therefore, the design team integrated the spirit of the Year of the Tiger, the whale with Taiwan Island imagery, and the yellow tiger of the National Treasure Yellow Tiger Flag in the drone show. The historical context of the show allows the audience to have a better understanding of Taiwan's culture.

The success of the festival was that the audience was still impressed with the show even after it was over. The innovative and unique performances not only brought the audience unforgettable memories, but also conveyed the variety of local humanities and culture.
