Umami 10

Umami 10 is a restaurant serving European inspired Japanese cuisine. We drew inspiration of the design from the flamboyant personality of the chef and his approach to his culinary craft. Both are unassuming yet full of pleasant surprises as we get to explore and familiarize with both the food and the chef himself.
We wanted to design the experience and journey of visiting patrons as a reflection of the different layers of discovery one would have while enjoying their meal at the establishment.

The restaurant is located in a cluster of historical shophouses in Singapore, we have played this in tune with our approach to have an unassuming entrance. Respecting the rich history of the space while hiding a jaw dropping loud and proud open kitchen dining experience upon entry of the space. The space is designed to be simple with strategic introduction of elements, textures and colors to achieve a phenomenal space; achieving more for less. An art gallery is introduced at the rear that features art from local artists to create an ever changing dining experience at the rear. One can always purchase and take the art home should they see one that catches their eye!
