ID21 was appointed by WarnerMedia, a global conglomerate with a portfolio of entertainment, news and sports brands, to design and build its regional hub for Asia (excluding China and Japan) at Solaris in Fusionopolis, Singapore’s media and tech business park. The sprawling 40,000 square feet office, spread across two floors and connected by an internal staircase, brought WarnerMedia’s brands (Warner Bros, HBO and Turner) under one roof for the first time, consolidating six different offices across Singapore and two from Hong Kong.

Inspired by WarnerMedia’s brand ethos, Shape Culture Here, ID21 designed an activity-based work environment that supports and harnesses cross-business synergies. The layout plan features different zones catering to different needs, be it focus or collaborative work, townhall meetings or socialisation. Through the use of distinctive environmental graphics against a calm, neutral backdrop, we were able to subtly project each business unit’s unique brand identity while keeping the overall design cohesive.

The layout plan is also geared towards flexibility and efficient use of space. For example, operable walls enable a suite of project rooms to be amalgamated with the adjacent work café and pantry for large-scale events and townhalls; a screening room equipped with professional audio-visual and projection capabilities can be used to host viewing parties and private screening events. Discussion spaces, communal work areas, the IT helpdesk and a coffee bar are strategically located in proximity to the internal staircase’s landing areas to create opportunities for casual interactions between employees.

In addition, various wayfinding cues intuitively guide users to move from the front of house to the various departmental neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has its own identity wall branded with the department’s team totems and products, acting as their unique identifier. Support amenities such as focus rooms, phone booths and privacy pods are also easily accessible within each neighbourhood.

WarnerMedia’s new regional hub has been designed as a work environment with visually captivating spaces inspired by their brands. Through intentional design, their new workplace catalyses authentic and meaningful connections between employees, allowing them to be rooted in a shared sense of belonging and identity.
