Interview
1 Congratulations on winning the MUSE Design Awards! Can you introduce yourself and share about what inspired you to pursue design as a career?
Our company has been in operation for over 15 years, specializing in the design of hotels, commercial spaces, and residential properties. Our services go beyond aesthetics, encompassing acoustic design and the creation of healthy living environments—all seamlessly integrated for our clients. We believe that great design is achieved through the collaboration of diverse professional expertise and innovative thinking. This approach allows us to create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also comfortable, safe, and functional. In doing so, we elevate design from a purely visual art form to a meaningful transformation of lifestyle.
2 What does being recognized in the MUSE Design Awards mean to you?
Design is a collaborative dialogue between the team and its users, rather than a solitary pursuit. Moving forward, our goal is to continue creating meaningful resonance and value through our work.
3 How has this achievement impacted your career, team, or agency, and what opportunities has it brought so far?
The MUSE Design Awards is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious accolades in the field of design. Receiving this award marks a significant milestone in an individual’s professional journey. It also enhances an organization’s reputation and builds customer trust, helping to attract a more discerning clientele
4 What role does experimentation play in your creative process? Can you share an example?
Our role in this project was essential, as each client requires personalized designs and innovative solutions. In this case, the client specifically requested a custom-designed shoe cabinet that was vital to their needs. The challenge lay in achieving an aesthetically pleasing design while ensuring structural integrity and durability. To address this, we collaborated closely with experienced woodworking craftsmen to carefully select materials and optimize the internal structure.
5 What's the most unusual source of inspiration you've ever drawn from for a project?
Through design company platforms, websites, social media, and even artificial intelligence tools, one can find a wealth of inspiration for design projects. These resources empower professionals to present clients with innovative and often unexpected creative concepts for consideration.
6 What’s one thing you wish more people understood about the design process?
Planning and organizing space flow and storage is essential. With thoughtful design, the same space can become more user-friendly and practical for daily activities.
7 How do you navigate the balance between meeting client expectations and staying true to your ideas?
We begin with preliminary communication to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s personality and ideas. We then apply the principle of “people first, space second” throughout the design process, ensuring that the final outcome effectively delivers value to the client.
8 What were the challenges you faced while working on your award-winning design, and how did you overcome them?
The design of the double-layered curved ceiling necessitated ongoing coordination and adjustments with various manufacturers. Through effective communication, we were able to identify and address the critical points of contention between both parties, resulting in successful resolutions.
9 How do you recharge your creativity when you hit a creative block?
It is essential to have a collaborative team that inspires its members.
10 What personal values or experiences do you infuse into your designs?
Consider employing multiple approaches, as there is rarely a single method to achieve a desired outcome. It is essential to engage in creative thinking when implementing your ideas effectively.
11 What is an advice that you would you give to aspiring designers aiming for success?
“Beauty” is the natural outcome of conducting activities with precision and care. Consequently, irrespective of the customers or challenges encountered, it is essential to uphold a positive and proactive mindset.
12 If you could collaborate with any designer, past or present, who would it be and why?
Tadao Ando's architectural works skillfully integrate natural elements such as light, wind, and water into concrete structures. This design approach is one that I hold in high regard and find particularly inspiring.
