Heart Dimension Design received a commission from Shanghai, which is a story about FLAT & BAR. The name of this BAR is FLAT as it means. As a city that has been prosperous and fashionable since the last century, Shanghai is never lack of bars, nor the enthusiasm of local culture and new trends. The epidemic in recent years is slowly changing people's habits and lifestyles, more people choose to work and play at home. We also have more dependence on Home. While we are eager to go out, we also have a fear of the outside world. The client also hopes to create a place through our thinking, which can not only experience delicacy and charm, but also make people feel more comfortable and safe.


Explore a Hidden BAR


From the name FLAT of the club, we know that the owner runs a club in the apartment. In addition to the stable customer group at the beginning, we want more about how to find a BAR hidden in the apartment. In Nongtang (the narrow alleyways of Shanghai), beside the street side, we should hide FLAT while expose it. Therefore, the facade and various signboard designs are crucial. The interior style and customer group are quite clear. The style is British and strong. The color is based on black, grey and brown, combined with retro refinement and modern simplicity, which makes each gathering comfortable and refined.


As the facade of the bar, FLAT does not have any logo, obvious signs or publicity for its main business. However, the dark and metal doors of the flat interpret the heavy feeling of British architecture. The curve of the door head and the slight light from the dormer window make FLAT full of warmth.
