Conversing with Light

‘In the embrace of nature, we get to find true freedom and inner tranquility’ - inspired by such idea perceived through Henry David Thoreau’s work ‘Walden’, the designer set the theme for reimagining this over-30-year-old residence, which has been passed down from loving parents to their newly-wed descendant. It carries the hearty blessing for kicking start a new life of wellness and fulfilment.
Upon a serene background of high-grade grey and pure white, texture of wood adds the cohesive warmth and tactile touch, enhancing overall sense of space while blurring boundaries in the open-plan communal areas.
Safety and well-being of the inhabitants meanwhile remains core of considerations, with an emphasis on sustainability through the extensive use of LED lighting, natural wood, eco-friendly paints, etc.
Taking full advantage of the site’s ample natural light and by lowering windowsills alongside dining, the design facilitates a sense of continuity from dining to kitchen, further onto floor-to-ceiling balcony doors. Hereby, unobstructed views and dynamism of light and shades enrich visual layers, fostering family interconnection with enhanced spatial experiences.
