A Twist of Tangerine

This vacation residence is meant to welcome the owner’s family when they come back from abroad. It’s a timeless design, thanks to the selection of colours and furniture, but at the same time the space is very comfortable, as it has been planned to feel as large as possible and dedicated to family reunion. Throughout the project, particular attention was given to colour match and harmony between the diverse textures.

To create a warm and large space, strategies were used to maximize the available space, while discreetly connecting the rooms together. For example, the master bedroom and the secondary bedroom are connected to the dining room by doors blending in the background thanks to irregular black lines, coated with titanium. This brings a fashionable atmosphere without appearing cluttered. In the master bedroom, the partition in the original bathroom was removed and replaced with iron and glass for visual continuity, enhancing the space by making it appear larger.

Furniture and materials were chosen carefully to achieve a durable design, not only timeless, but also resistant. In the dining room, the lighting fixture displays heart and infinity symbols, depending on the angle we look at it from. In the living room, flooring consists of large French century-old oak planks. The TV stand is crafted from century-old cypress, sourced from the Yilan Forestry Bureau to avoid deformations.

A few elements provide bright colors to the apartment, contrasting with neutral colors. The window daybed brings orange vivid accents to the living room, as well as the room partition.

Zero formaldehyde and eco-friendly materials were used, ensuring environmental considerations were prioritized. Such materials include Benjamin Moore paint, used on white surfaces in the dining room, also making them scratch-resistant and easy to clean.
