About The Entry

BELAMAR COMPLEXO is a multi-service development in Vila do Conde, Portugal, designed to revitalize the site of a former canning factory, enhancing one of the town's main entrances. The project integrates modularity, fluidity of access, and pathways that take advantage of the site’s natural slope. The design responds to various urban constraints, including the roundabout area, topographical variations, and the proximity to an 18th-century aqueduct, a prominent architectural feature in the landscape. Among the buildings in the complex, the elongated structure stands out with its distinctive form, creating a dialogue with the historic aqueduct and uniting residential and hotel spaces into a single volume.

The complex is divided into functional parcels: a commercial area with a supermarket and shops, a service zone including a gas station, a hotel building near the roundabout, and a residential area integrated with the hotel. This integration forms a multifunctional, harmonious volume, both in form and material. Efficient accessibility is ensured through multiple entry points and designated parking areas, enabling organized traffic flows. Green spaces, including a large southern area and a boulevard, further blend the complex into the town’s landscape.

Architecturally, the complex showcases a distinctive, elongated form with a "broken" floor plan, creating a sense of lightness by elevating the upper floors on pillars, giving the structure an airy, floating appearance. The cladding enhances the building’s three-dimensional look with prefabricated concrete modules, producing light effects that highlight its longitudinal twists. These elements also contribute to energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Despite the unified architectural language, the hotel and residential areas have independent access points.

Overall, BELAMAR COMPLEXO aims to create a functional and welcoming environment, designed to meet the needs and well-being of its users while enhancing the experience of living and integrating harmoniously with the surrounding urban landscape.
