Taking the "Phoenix Eye" as the entrance design and channeling the essence of Qinghui Garden, this modern exhibition center harmoniously blends traditional Lingnan architectural elements into its contemporary structure.
Geographical Context: Rooted in Shunde, A New Elegance of Qinghui
Shunde has always been at the heart of Cantonese culture, embodying a city character that is understated yet luxurious, with a rich and profound cultural heritage. The design draws inspiration from the serene elegance and traditional elements of Qinghui Garden, one of the four famous gardens of Lingnan, infusing the architecture with soul.
Form: Triangular Stance, Harmonizing Sky and Earth
The building stands on a triangular plot, utilizing the planned green space above the subway on the east side to achieve a fusion of permanent architecture and temporary landscapes. The structure rises gently from the ground, yet humbly bows to the city, interpreting the traditional concept of harmonizing sky and earth.
Leveraging the Landscape: A Hundred-Meter Facade, Coexisting with Trees
The southern facade of the building forms a 100-meter-long interface along the city's main thoroughfare. The single-story architectural volume appears even more majestic against the backdrop of trees, ensuring the integrity and grandeur of the cityscape. Trees and the building coexist harmoniously, complementing each other.
Phoenix Eye: A Modern Interpretation of Ancient Craftsmanship
The traditional roof is ingeniously curved into a rounded shape, with elements like bricks, tiles, wood, and ridges collectively creating the highlight—the "Phoenix Eye." The clever integration of traditional forms and modern craftsmanship ensures the realization of the design's intent. The Phoenix Eye resembles a gateway connecting the past and the future.
