About The Entry

The Soundscapes Archive is a set of four vinyl records that represent four different chapters of life. Inspired by the music and stories of Ryuichi Sakamoto, this project delves into the profound relationship between time and life, expressed through the resonance of sound. Ryuichi Sakamoto once said, “Sound is the breath of the world. It is the sound of life. Everything that has life has a sound.”

This archive captures the fusion of nature and music, preserving life’s resonance through sound. “Soundscapes” represents the intricate blend of natural and musical elements, reflecting the evolving harmony of time, while “Archive” signifies a collection of sonic memories. Like a vinyl record etching moments into its grooves, this project invites listeners to explore the landscapes of sound, time, and emotion.

“Music is the natural language of the world. It’s a reflection of nature and life.” By recording Ryuichi Sakamoto’s timeless melodies on vinyl and remixing them with sounds recorded from nature, these vinyl records capture the unchanging essence of music—a vessel for memory and meaning. Envisioning life as four chapters—Innocence, Ambition and Rebellion, Embrace and Struggle, and Infinite Reverberation—portrayed through the natural elements of Aqua (水の記憶), Light (光の闘争), Cloud (雲の矛盾), and Wind (風の残響), this work seeks to depict the flow of time and life. It creates a medium for you to connect your past, present, and future through the language of sound. It aims to inspire you to feel the rhythm of time, uncover the meaning of your journey, and appreciate the value of life.

The beauty and fragility of time—where life unfolds like a symphony, and you are both the player and the listener. Through every challenge, music carries hope and light. Your melody resonates, echoing across time and space.
