This project is guided by the core concept of “Photosynthetic Sail Shadows,” employing a double-skin
façade strategy to create an eco-conscious structure that can grow, recharge, and set sail—establishing a
public interface where humans and nature coexist in mutual benefit. Each building orientation responds precisely
to environmental and functional needs: the east and north façades feature a “Sailing Wall,” composed
of layered, undulating structures inspired by Jinshan’s maritime culture, integrated with climbing greenery
to form a living ecological barrier that reduces noise and visual disturbances while enhancing microclimate
comfort; the south and west façades, benefiting from high solar exposure, become “Charging Walls,” incorporating
gradient-arranged photovoltaic panels that balance energy harvesting with visual screening and
aesthetic appeal through a modular play of light and shadow. Along the intercity railway, the west façade is
designed as a symbolic cultural display for passengers near Jinshanwei Station, transforming the building
into a dynamic regional landmark. The renovation revitalizes underused urban space with vertical green systems
that enhance resilience, smart photovoltaic walls that ensure energy autonomy, and sail-inspired forms
that reinterpret local identity—ultimately transforming infrastructure into a vibrant node of ecological function,
cultural expression, and community value.
