From the outset, the client of this project clearly expressed her desire to break away from conventional home styles, envisioning black paint as the protagonist of the space to create a modern, artistic living environment.
Guided by this vision, the design does not rely on complex forms or excessive decorations, but rather allows color itself to articulate the spatial language. As one of the primary tones, black not only challenges stereotypes associated with dark hues but also precisely conveys a sleek, pure, and dynamic home aesthetic.
Compared to compact spaces, designing larger areas needs to overcome more intricate challenges. Beyond balancing functionality and aesthetics, it requires a meticulous approach to managing negative space and zoning—ensuring the area feels neither barren nor visually cluttered.
This project boldly applies shades of gray and black throughout the interior, infusing the home with a minimalist, stylish, and modern sensibility. Under natural light, the overall ambiance feels calm and refined, while artificial lighting softens the visual impact, transforming the space into an elegant, gallery-like environment. In the open-planned living and dining areas, the thoughtful layout and circulation design achieve distinct functional zoning. The independent, fully open black kitchen harmonizes seamlessly with the overall aesthetic, effectively improving spatial dimension and depth.
Moving to the bedroom areas, a Maillard-style scheme creates a sophisticated and timeless soothing atmosphere. Curves and rounded forms are used to soften structural columns, enhancing visual layering. One of the bathrooms stands out with its uncommon dark-toned, high-end villa aesthetic, complemented by subtle industrial vintage elements in the vanity area.
The master bedroom elevates the ambiance to another level, embodying an understated, luxurious resort feel. A walk-in closet has been incorporated, prioritizing flow and comfort while maintaining functional zoning and spatial openness. Centered around the bed and bathroom, the layout forms a smooth cycle for bathing, changing, and sleeping. The last bedroom takes the bold black style to its fullest expression without sacrificing elegance. With minimalist black as the dominant tone, linear designs introduce richer visual layering. Far from being oppressive or monotonous, the room exudes a distinctive artistic atmosphere.
