Inspired by the refined essence of Huaiyang cuisine with a touch of modern creativity, the design of this restaurant draws from the poetic spirit of Jiangnan gardens, exploring a subtle balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics. The overall tone adopts a muted grey palette with soft, elegant hues, allowing the tactile beauty of materials to define the atmosphere and depth of the space.
The ground floor serves as an open dining area that blends cultural symbolism with modern boldness. Red tones, natural stone, metal, and skylight geometry are composed to create a space that feels both distinctly Chinese and heroically modern. The circular entrance and geometric skylights organically divide the space into different dining zones, creating a natural rhythm of movement and light.
On the second floor, private dining rooms express a calmer narrative. Inspired by traditional ink-wash landscapes, the space uses layers of grey and natural stone to evoke the poetic scenery of mountains and rivers. The spirit of Jiangnan literati culture unfolds quietly through restrained forms and refined textures, blurring the boundary between nature and architecture.
Public areas such as corridors, staircases, and restrooms continue the design dialogue with contrasting expressions—where bold geometric structures meet the soft tonality of Chinese landscape art. This interplay creates a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural heritage, transforming functional zones into aesthetic experiences.
Overall, the project presents an elegant fusion of tradition and modernity, where spatial storytelling, material sensitivity, and cultural resonance come together. It celebrates the timeless charm of oriental dining culture while expressing a modern attitude of confidence, restraint, and poetic grace.
