This “primer” exhibit roots visitors in the historic significance of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center’s powerful location in Cincinnati, Ohio, on the banks of the Ohio River, and conveys how freedom struggles in the 1800s connected to local, regional, and national social justice movements in the 1900s and 2000s. An immersive media program and an interactive media table orient visitors to the Center’s key themes and topics, and connect and inspire support for ongoing social justice efforts today. Visitors begin their journey at the Freedom Center grounded and empowered with this knowledge as they explore galleries through the building.
