As an industry pioneer in the circular economy, Zhuanzhuan has long been committed to building an environmentally responsible second-hand business model. By seamlessly integrating online and offline platforms, the brand has established a trustworthy circular trading ecosystem rooted in its core mission, “Secondhand Saves the World.” This project translates circular economy principles into everyday retail experiences, making sustainable consumption more accessible, engaging, and reliable for a broader audience.
This retail design project aims to reshape public perceptions of second-hand transactions by creating a lifestyle-oriented, transparent, and trust-driven retail environment. Through spatial design strategies, the store enhances user engagement while reinforcing transaction credibility, positioning second-hand consumption not merely as a rational choice, but as a meaningful and sustainable way of living embedded in daily routines.
The Zhuanzhuan Circular Retail Store is conceived as a hybrid spatial platform that integrates brand storytelling, immersive retail experiences, social interaction, and advocacy for sustainable living. Inspired by the concept of an “Enthusiast Park,” the design responds to the curiosity-driven, open-minded nature of its core users, encouraging exploration, interaction, and discovery. Shopping is transformed from a purely transactional act into a participatory and enjoyable journey.
The interior is organized around a modular spatial system composed of twelve functional modules, allowing the store to flexibly adapt to changing operational strategies, product categories, and event-based scenarios with minimal cost. Given the high turnover and non-standard dimensions of second-hand products, the visual strategy minimizes architectural dominance through clean lines, neutral tones, and a clear information hierarchy, ensuring that products remain the primary focus.
Beyond retail, the store functions as a community hub through socially oriented layouts and fluid circulation paths, enabling users to connect, exchange experiences, and participate in circular culture. The project demonstrates how retail space can evolve into a living platform that builds trust, encourages sustainable behavior, and strengthens emotional connections between brand and users—positioning circular consumption as an accessible and aspirational lifestyle.
