About The Entry
This project transcends the definition of a traditional commercial complex, delving deep into the authentic needs of nearby residents. The design opens visual corridors to Wangchen Pavilion while seamlessly connecting to the subway and cultural sports centers, creating a composite ecosystem of consumption, leisure, social interaction, and culture.
Guided by the theme “Forest Realm,” the design allows nature and culture to grow organically within the space. The original IP “YOYO” links six thematic zones, dissolving the boundaries between indoors and outdoors: greenery cascades from terraces, the sound of flowing water permeates corridors, and sunlight filters through staggered terraces to create shifting patterns of light, recreating an ecological sanctuary rather than simply stacking plants. Cultural translation is even more nuanced, drawing inspiration from the Grand Canal’s intangible heritage. The design transforms the arc of oil-paper umbrellas into ceiling lines and incorporates tidal forms into floor textures. This shifts Jiangnan aesthetics from mere exhibits to tangible spatial experiences. Complemented by all-age-friendly details—such as rounded furniture in children’s areas and warm-toned, eco-friendly coatings in nursing rooms—the space infuses every moment with warmth.
The spatial narrative unfolds through captivating movements. The journey begins at the “Secret Garden,” passes the “Symbiotic Tree,” and culminates in the “Grotto Wonderland.” At its heart lies the “Urban Living Room,” modeled after the cruise ship Zhao Shang Yi Dun. Through a sophisticated combination of steel columns and fiberglass, it creates the visual spectacle of a floating ark, balancing structural safety with aesthetic impact. While the dining district uses warm lighting and greenery to foster relaxation, the “Urban Living Room” serves as a hub for interaction and display. This precise alignment of atmosphere and functionality has earned unanimous acclaim from merchants.
Material selection adheres to the principles of natural texture, technological sophistication, safety, and eco-friendliness. Bamboo and rattan undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are formaldehyde-free. Champagne-gold iron tubes are sculpted into jungle branches, and mirrored ceilings reflect an “ink-wash forest” ambiance. From slip-resistant flooring to shock-absorbing features and the use of detachable installations, the design adapts to long-term operational needs, creating a sustainable, engaging, and vibrant urban community.
