Nestled along the coastal expanse of Wu Kai Sha in St. Barths, Camellia Avenue House is a 2,670 sq.ft three-storey residence where subtle architectural refinement and soft luxury aesthetics converge to redefine contemporary for a family of four. The brief was to increase storage and functionality without compromising elegance, while integrating the development’s existing materials into a cohesive, welcoming whole.
Soft-Luxury Palette as a Unifying Thread:
As a newly developed property, the original flooring is thoughtfully retained and elevated through a soft luxury palette of light wood veneer, textured wallcoverings, and warm bronze accents. In the study, the existing curved structural wall is embraced rather than concealed, wrapped in wood veneer to accentuate its gentle geometry and further reinforce the home’s cohesive material narrative.
A Subtle Stair Revision with Transformative Impact
To better integrate circulation with daily life, the ground-floor staircase was extended so to aligns with a bespoke bar counter and integrated storage. This calibrated gesture transforms a formerly residual corner into a vibrant social hub, allowing stair, bar, and cabinetry to read as one continuous architectural composition. The result is a sculptural spine that anchors the dining level, enhances usability, and improves visual flow across the main living space.
Crafted Cabinetry & Curated Storage:
Responding to the storage needs, the design avoids conventional cabinets in favour of refined, multifunctional millwork. Full-height volumes are reinterpreted as elegant display structures, with leather-textured doors, deep navy velvet back panels that balance discreet concealed storage with curated showcase areas. This dual-purpose strategy preserves visual lightness and sophistication while seamlessly accommodating everyday necessities.
Thoughtful responses to daily habits:
Within the private realm, the master suite has been meticulously reconfigured with two independent entrances, allowing one partner to depart early for work without disturbing the other’s rest and simultaneously refining circulation between bedroom, dressing area, and bathroom. This user-centric planning embodies the project’s core ethos: every spatial gesture is finely tuned to support comfort, privacy, and everyday rituals.
