Jiyuan Seal · Suihua｜Chinese Baijiu Packaging Design

Jiyuan Seal · Suihua is a premium Chinese baijiu produced in Maotai Town, Guizhou, aged for six years. The project explores how packaging design can transform the abstract value of time into a tangible, verifiable, and collectible experience.
Centered on the concept “Sealing Time with Honor,” the design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese seals, which symbolize confirmation, preservation, and inheritance. The bottle is conceived not only as a container, but as a vessel of time and cultural memory. Its form is inspired by tree rings, with layered surface textures representing the accumulation of years, echoing the ancient Chinese philosophy of renewal recorded in The Book of Rites (Yue Ling).
At the material and system level, each bottle cap is crafted from natural walnut wood. The unique grain of every cap is photographed and encrypted into a cloud-based database for anti-counterfeiting authentication, ensuring that each bottle is truly one of a kind and traceable.
Through restrained form, authentic materials, and digital verification, the project establishes a premium baijiu packaging system that bridges traditional Chinese ritual culture with contemporary product design logic.
