GO PARK Sai Sha Adventure Valley – the Bear

Since we strongly believe our next generation needs a community that would continuously spark imagination and inspire creativity, we create Adventure Valley, a bear-themed children's wonderland. Located in Adventure Land at GO PARK Sai Sha in Hong Kong, Adventure Valley, a 5-meter-tall giant bear, is a multi-purpose amusement facility considered to be one of the signature items there. We finely shape the eyes, ears, nose, and legs for this bear-shaped installation, and use different shades of brown plastic boards to highlight its shape and "coat color" in the sunlight. We aim to bring the bear to life, reviving the community in an old-fashioned way with a giant installation, in order to enhance the vividness and whimsicality of children's world. What we want to create is not just a lovely facility, but a playful animal. Considering the open, airy and natural atmosphere in Sai Sha, we deliberately adopt a design that let the best amount of daylight in. By precisely optimizing the distances between the boards, as well as balancing the use of plastic boards and grids, we manage to keep Adventure Valley bright and airy enough without the use of extra lights or electrical installations. Children may rest assured to play inside the bear's body which is nowhere dark or cramped. This is not just an eco-friendly set-up, but also a safe one for children as their parents can easily look after them. Harnessing the power of design, we hope this fortress-like facility offers children a sense of security like a shelter do, while they are actually playing outdoors. "Play out of the box" is the way we design. We insist on creating children's amusement facilities that are fun yet educational. Adventure Valley is not only an installation with two different slides, but there is a world inside. Hong Kong is a technology-based metropolis with many skyscrapers, creating a space for imagination in this city is as precious as having an oasis in a desert. We hope that children can peek into a different world through the perspective of this bear.
